Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
The Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) credential is for professionals who have the skills to successfully implement a Microsoft product or technology as part of a business solution in an organization. Hands-on experience with a product is necessary to successfully achieve certification. Candidates are required to pass one current Microsoft certification exam that provides a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise.
This is the entry-level certification title from Microsoft. Passing any one of current Microsoft certification exams qualifies an individual for the MCP credential. Individuals can demonstrate proficiency with additional Microsoft products by passing additional certification exams.
As an MCP, you'll have the ability to effectively use and support specific Microsoft® products. Along with these skills come increased job opportunities and financial rewards. MCP certification also provides a stepping stone towards further Microsoft certifications including MCSE, MCSA and MCSD.
The best place to keep tabs on the MCP program and its related certifications is the Web. Currently the URL for the MCP program is www.microsoft.com/traincert. If you are already an MCP, you have earned access to the MCP Secured Site, which is open only to skilled technology pros who have passed at least one Microsoft certification exam. MCPs can log onto the MCP Secured Site by visiting https://partnering.one.microsoft.com/mcp. You must use a .NET Passport account to log onto the MCP Secured Site.
