Updated Security+ Coming in October, Linux+ Review in the Works

The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) recently announced that a new version of its Security+ exam will be released in October 2008. The new exam contains a new subject area titled "Assessments and Audits," which covers risk assessment and mitigation as well as tools and techniques for addressing risk. Also, the topic of access control has been expanded into its own subject area. The current version of the exam will remain available through April 2009.

The Linux+ exam will be revised before long as well. Currently it is in the early stages of the update process. The first step, job task analysis, is scheduled for July, and subject matter experts are need to participate the Linux+ Certification Advisory Committee (CAC).
